I want to offer an apology to our Independent, Republican, Libertarian group members.  When I first formed Delta County Unified, I wanted to see our community move past partisan division and reunite as neighbors.  When Delta County Unified signed on with Indivisible, it was with the understanding that they are a bipartisan organization.

Recently, State Wide Indivisible Michigan and Indivisible National surveyed groups and individuals about endorsing a Senate Candidate.  Their survey did not offer participants the option to support a Republican, Independent, or Libertarian candidate.  We were only offered candidates from the Democratic party.  

I have no doubt that a majority vote of our group members would support a candidate from the Democratic party.  However, it is dishonest to say we are bipartisan if we do not offer people the option to choose among all candidates.  Moreover, I opposed endorsing anyone during the primary; such a move only risks dividing our organization.

Partisan politics have caused a huge divide in our community and country.  Both major parties benefit from this divide.  They call upon us to be loyal to a party, not our country or our community.  The real fight isn't partisan, it is the working class versus the ultra-wealthy.

Career politicians from both parties benefit by keeping us divided.  They benefit by focusing on party loyalty instead of the real issues.  They hold power and profit financially from the political divide.  They claim to represent us, but in reality they represent the wealthy people who buy and sell our elections like stocks in the market.

Voter turnout during primaries is historically very low.  This ultimately leaves us stuck choosing between the lesser of two evils in November.  I want to encourage each of you to educate yourselves on the candidates and vote during the primary.  Whether you vote for a Democrat or a Republican candidate, I strongly encourage you to look for those candidates who are running grassroots campaigns and have made a commitment not to take money from large PACs and corporations.

The battle isn't between Democrats and Republicans, it is between the working people and those who profit off our backs.  As we celebrate Independence Day, let us remember that we will regain our independence when our elected officials are no longer bought and paid for by the wealthy.

Take Action Tuesday protests take place every Tuesday in front of Walgreen's in Escanaba. Please do not park in the Walgreen's lot. 

NOTES FROM INDIVISIBLE "WHAT'S THE PLAN?" NATIONAL MEETING (4-23-26):

1) Leah G. and Ezra celebrated primary wins by progressive candidates in Colorado, and talked about progressive candidate endorsements for primaries coming up in other states. 

2) They talked about their Election Defense Corps, a grassroots network of volunteers located in Alaska, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas dedicated to protecting the right to vote before, during, and after the 2026 election. 3) They answered Porter's question about Jack Bergman being a carpetbagger and basically said we should get a lawyer to file a suit. Let us know if you or someone you know is a lawyer that might want to take this on. They said even if the suit doesn't succeed, it would shine a light on the situation and perhaps cost him some votes.

Attention MI-DI leaders, 

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce has come out as pro data center. They created a coalition Michigan for Responsible Data Centers that is using buzz words such as "regulations, responsible use, and non-partisan" to put on a neutral front, when they are clearly pro data center expansion.

And, yes, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce is the same group that recently endorsed Jack Bergman despite the irreparable harm that has happened to our economy because of the current administration to whom Jack is extremely loyal to.

A quick note, your local chamber isn't automatically a member of the Michigan Chamber or National Chamber of Commerce. For example, the Sault Sainte Marie Chamber of Commerce isn't a member of either the state level or national chamber. HOWEVER, they are leveraging their power to target local chambers and business folks to gain favor and open doors for their agenda. 

THREE-MINUTE CALL TO ACTION:

VOTE EARLY IN THE PRIMARIES AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME! Get your ballot in if you vote by mail and talk to your neighbors, friends and family about the candidates you support. If they're Republicans, make sure they know that Jack Bergman is a carpetbagger who lives in Louisiana! If we can get him out in the primary, we might have a shot at the general. Justin Michal is the less harmful candidate as he actually lives in Grayling, opposes data center expansion, and has a less hard-line opinion on immigration than the other two. DenOtter is just another flavor of MAGA.
