"Remember that all through history there have been tyrants and murderers and, for a time, they seem invincible. But in the end, they always fall. Always." --Mahatma Gandhi

NOTES FROM LEAH B:

I attended Kyle Blomquist's Town Hall this past week.  I am very impressed with what he said.  He is a true Yooper who cares about what we think, unlike Jack Bergman.  More importantly he is not afraid to call out Democrats and Republicans when he thinks they made a bad decision.  But above all, he is committed to a grass roots campaign, and is not taking large special interest donations.

The primaries are coming up.  If you are tired of choosing between the lesser of two evils in the November elections, make sure your voice is heard by voting in the primaries.  I encourage you to educate yourself on the candidates and vote grassroots.  We desperately need elected officials who will represent us, not the corporations and special interests.  There are candidates in both parties who are running grass roots campaigns this year.

Finally, Independence Day is right around the corner.  I am still looking for volunteers to help pass out candy during the parade.  The meet up will be at 10 am in Gladstone.  I do not have the exact location yet but will let you know once it is released.

FROM STATE WIDE INDIVISIBLE OF MICHIGAN (SWIM)

The votes are in.  SWIM is endorsing Abdul El-Sayed in the Senate Race after 80% of the Michigan Indivisible Groups voted in his favor.  They will not endorse anyone in the Governor's race because no candidate reached a 60% majority.

If you are registered with Indivisible National, you will be receiving an email asking you if Indivisible National Should also endorse Abdul El Sayed for US Senate.  If you are not registered, but would like to vote you can do so through this link:  https://act.indivisible.org/signup/get-updates-indivisible/The deadline is tomorrow, June 29th at 11:59 ET.

NOTES FROM INDIVISIBLE "WHAT'S THE PLAN?" NATIONAL MEETING (4-23-26):

1) Their guest was Corey Dukes from Protect Democracy, an organization that is helping to protect our elections. He discussed ways that fascist regimes try to steal elections: Deceive (i.e., supercharge lies and conspiracy theories about "election fraud"), Disrupt (i.e., use the threat of violence, manipulate rules of elections to block eligible voters, Supreme Court decisions, etc), Deny (use the deception and disruption to sabotage or overturn election results they don't like). He said the reasons we should be hopeful, though, is that elections are run locally, the President is widely unpopular and running out of time to centralize power, and we are actively fighting it.

2) Some ways Corey says we can help:

  • Don't assume our friends and family know about Trump's election interference plans just because they vote the same way as you do...spread the word! Make your plan to vote as early as possible and encourage others to do so as well

  • Volunteer to be a poll worker (www.powerthepolls.com)

  • Don't do the administration's work for them by spreading fear of "stolen" elections...it discourages people from voting

  • If you're looking for tangible things to do, there is a resource on their website: Ways to Protect Democracy

3) They once again encouraged people to sign up for their "Hands Off Our Vote," election integrity training program that focuses on battleground states, including Michigan! Sign up for more information here: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/916480/

4) They discussed Trump's executive order to use the USPS to get voter rolls from states and allow the regime to tell the USPS which voters are allowed to receive vote-by-mail ballots. The USPS is currently taking public comments on this (see 3-Minute Call to Action below)
