"It doesn't matter how strong your opinions are. If you don't use your power for positive change, you are indeed part of the problem."
―Coretta Scott King
NOTES FROM LEAH B:
1) The Money out of politics petition has cleared the Board of State Canvassers. The Legislature has 40 days to approve the measure or put the proposal on the November election ballot! Thank you to everyone who helped get the petition signatures!!!!
2) We are raising funds for a rally at Ludington Park in September. I am hoping to raise $500 to cover the costs of this event. If you would like to donate to help cover the cost, you can use this link: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/indivisibledcu1426087589
3) DATA is going free rides to anyone who is voting absentee or in person. To use this service, you must call DATA to schedule your ride, but there will not be a charge. This free service will cover both the Primary and General Election. Their phone number is 906-786-1186.
4) The Delta County Commissioners unanimously passed a 1 year moratorium on Data Centers and Byte Coin mining. However, if you live in an area that is not covered by Delta County, such as Gladstone, Escanaba, Escanaba Township, Ford River, Rapid River, etc then you need to speak with our city or township commissioners to find out what they are doing regarding data centers.

NOTES FROM INDIVISIBLE "WHAT'S THE PLAN?" NATIONAL MEETING (07-09-26):
1) They encouraged us to call our senators to tell them to oppose the inclusion of the Voter ID Act in the Stop Insider Trading Act (see 3-Minute Call to Action below)
2) They encouraged us to join the Immigrant Justice Summer trainings, and to attend or host Justice for Lorenzo and Johan Day of Action and Accountability events
3) They warned that the Trump administration is likely to escalate ICE activity in blue dot cities in swing states (including Michigan) as we get closer to Election Day in order to scare people into staying home...they said to vote early, whenever possible

Indivisible What's the Plan - July 30, 2026
From SWIM (Statewide Indivisible Michigan):
Neighbor 2 Neighbor
This is how we win - one conversation at a time. Volunteers will receive a list of just 10 doors to knock, often within walking distance of your home. These are homes that have indicated support, in the past. This makes it simple and manageable. The current scripts are messaging about free and fair or educating voters about Abdul El-Sayed, Indivisible's endorsed candidate for the open Michigan Senate seat.
Not sure where to start? Check out this quick read from the Indivisible team: “How We’re Going to Defeat MAGA, 10 Doors at a Time."
And if you’re feeling nervous, bring a friend! Seriously, it makes it way more fun.

Join Indivisible as we make calls into Michigan to get voters ready for the upcoming primary election on August 4th and share why we’re supporting Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate, William Lawrence in Michigan's 7th House District, and Donavan McKinney in Michigan's 13th House District! We’ll be telling voters all about these exciting candidates and why they should be voting to send Abdul, William, and Donavan to represent them. Help make calls to voters in Michigan, and let's rally to elect real fighters for families and defenders of democracy at the federal level.
A short phonebanking training will be included at the beginning of each phonebank, so both first-time dialers and phonebank pros are welcome to join. Be sure to have both a computer and a phone so that you can make calls to voters.

From Delta Dems
Curtis Hertel, MDP Chair, will be coming to Escanaba during Fair Week. We will host a casual meet and greet for him when we have more details on date and time. Chris Cracchiolo, MDP Congressional District One Chair, will be attending the Governor's Luncheon and is also hoping to meet some Delta County Yooper Dems for a casual meet and greet immediately following the luncheon. We are planning to host this at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Hall.
From Food and Water Watch
The EPA was heavily pressured by states, lawmakers, and advocacy groups to monitor microplastics in drinking water but they didn't include microplastics on their list. There is now a public comment period open until August 31. Will you please write a public comment? THREE-MINUTE CALL TO ACTION:
Call both Senators and tell them that you oppose the inclusion of the Voter ID Act in the Stop Insider Trading Act. Basically, there was a non-partisan bill to stop insider trading in Congress. House Republicans attached the Voter ID Act (basically the SAVE Act) to it, and that passed the House. So we need the Senate to strike it down
