NOTES FROM LEAH B:
1) We are raising funds for a rally at Ludington Park in September. I am hoping to raise $500 to cover the costs of this event. Indivisible National is going to match our donations for the month of August up to $300! Please consider making a donation in August to help us reach this matching goal and pay for the rally. 2) Reminder. Next Sunday the 16th I am hosting a fundraising dinner for State House Candidate Rachel Keys, with the help of Ed McMahon, Yvette Eagle, Shirley Goodrick, and Mike and Monica Peach. We will be serving brisket, chicken, sides, and dessert. This will be a great opportunity to meet Rachel. We suggest a $30 donation. Please rsvp to leahbelanger2012@gmail.com if you plan to attend.
3) Abdul El Sayed did something amazing in the primary. He defeated a candidate who received big donations from AIPAC. But now the racist attacks from MAGA are coming out hot and fast. Whether you support El Sayed or not, please base that decision on fact and what he stands for, not his color or religion. Here are some facts. El Sayed was born and raised in Michigan. His father was Egyptian, and his mother was American. His Grandmother was a Presbyterian Deacon. El Sayed attended University of Michigan. He played football and lacrosse. While he opposes American tax dollars going to Israel, he does not hate Jewish people. While growing up, he also spent time in Egypt. This experience gave him a great appreciation for the freedoms we have here in the United States. Vote for him or don't, but base that decision on his policies and the issues.

NOTES FROM INDIVISIBLE "WHAT'S THE PLAN?" NATIONAL MEETING (07-09-26):
1) They discussed the results of their survey asking where people get their news. They are going to create a document to share with us with the top sources, which we will share here when it's published
2) In discussion about this week's primaries, they gave big shout-outs to Indivisible groups in Michigan because we were 3 for 3 with our endorsed candidates...YAY, US!
3) They discussed "Accountability and Affordability" as the framing for the general elections and how these things go hand-in-hand, i.e., the reason everything is expensive for regular people is because of the corruption in the Trump regime
4) Peggy Flanagan was the guest...she is the current Lt. Gov. of Minnesota, running for U.S. Senate against DINO (Democrat in Name Only) Angie Craig ("AIPAC Angie" and "Crypto Craig" are two of her nicknames). Peggy says she wants to go to Washington to avenge Minnesota! She's a fabulous candidate, consider supporting her: https://peggyflanagan.com
5) There was a question about which group that is working to protect elections (ACLU, MVP, etc.) should we be signing up for and their answer was basically "get in where you fit in" and that the different groups are all coalescing around the message of "Hands Off Our Vote"

We sent a separate email about this but, as a reminder, NMARD is hosting "Lessons Learned from the Data Center Fightback," a hybrid, multi-location community event bringing together residents from across the U.P. and Northern Michigan. The event will take place 6-8pm on Monday, August 10th. For more information and to register, click here

Now is your chance to see the UP State Fair and help us out by volunteering at the Delta Dems Booth in the Ruth Butler Building! Lots of shifts available from Monday, August 17 through Sunday, August 23. All are two hour shifts at 10 am, Noon, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. There are two exceptions: 1) Monday, the Butler building opens at 5:00 pm, so the first shift would be 5 - 8 pm. and, 2) on Sunday, we close at 8:00 pm, so there wouldn't be an 8 - 10 pm. shift. Please give me a call at (906) 786-5038 or (906) 630-5858, so that I can accommodate your choices. This year due to the November election, we will be sharing our double-wide booth with interested candidates. There is room for 4 people comfortably. You may also email me at eskynanc@gmail.com.

3-MINUTE CALL TO ACTION:
The EPA was heavily pressured by states, lawmakers, and advocacy groups to monitor microplastics in drinking water but they didn't include microplastics on their list. There is now a public comment period open until August 31. Write a public comment like "I urge the EPA to require monitoring of microplastics in drinking water by adding them to the final UCMR 6!" or "Not monitoring microplastics in our drinking water is insane! Do your job, EPA!" It carries more weight if you include your email, but there is an "Anonymous" option. Post your comment here:
